MAC Vegas Volt Lipstick Review and Swatches

Hey guys!

Are you ready for the long weekend?

Lately I've been really into peach corals with everything; blushes, nail polishes, eyeshadows and lip products so it's a good thing that orange is the colour of the year. I may not be brave enough yet to wear a full-on orange lipstick but I think the product that I will review is close enough.

MAC Vegas Volt is an Amplified Creme and is officially described as a "full power coral." I would say that that's a pretty accurate description as its an amplified lipstick so its very opaque and has very good pigmentation. You can sheer out the colour if its too bright for you but you can also layer it to make it as intense as you'd like.

Here is an arm and lip swatch

As any of the MAC lipsticks I own, this lasts about 3 - 4 hours on me before needing to re-apply. I also need to apply lip balm first before putting this on as its quite drying. I love that this is a unique colour for me and I don't have anything like it in my collection.

Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoo Cream Eyeshadows Review and Swatches

Hey guys!

Maybelline has launched a line of cream eyeshadows a few months ago and have quickly become very popular in the beauty community. These shadows are compared by a lot of people to MAC Paint Pots, I have never owned a MAC paint pot so I won't be able to do a comparison.

Company Description: Dare to wear 24HR shadow.
       • Ink technology creates 24HR wear shadow for our most intense, long-lasting color saturation
 • Cream formula glides on without creasing and keeps color vibrant
• Ophthalmologist-tested.  Safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers

Packaging: The colour tattoo is housed in a heavy glass jar, just like a MAC paint pot so it doesn't feel cheap and shouldn't dry up fast.

Maybelline has marketed these shadows to last for 24 hours but honestly I don't know anyone who would want their makeup to stay for that long. But I can say that these shadows do last for a quite some time.

Bad to the Bronze is beautiful bronze with a metallic and shimmer finish

Here is a swatch

Bold Gold is sheer shimmery gold that is not quite as opaque as the other shades but is buildable

Here is a swatch

Pomegranate Punk is a darkened burgundy with a shimmery finish

Here is a swatch

Tough as Taupe is gray that is mauve-y tinted with a matte finish

Here is a swatch

All the eyeshadows have excellent pigmentation and colour payoff which can be used alone, as a base or an eyeliner. The consistency of these shadows are very creamy and smooth that will glide on your lids without a hassle. Another good thing about these shadows is that you can just use your fingertip to apply.

Price: $7.99 - $9.99 CAD

Place to buy: Walmart, Shopper's Drug Mart, Rexall

Have you tried the Maybelline Cream Shadows yet?

Guide To.... Types of Eyeliners - Drugstore

Hey guys!

Since there are many kinds of eyeliners available in the market, I thought to make a post of what I have so you may be able to choose which is more suited for you.

I have here pencil eyeliners, liquid eyeliners and a gel eyeliner which are available from the drugstore.

First up, pencil eyeliners. A pencil eyeliner is a staple in every girl's makeup collection, I think.  A pencil eyeliner is a good starter for a makeup beginner as its easy to apply with little to no room for mess ups. For application, you basically just trace your waterline or your upper lash line for a gorgeous look. For this kind of eyeliner, I have the Wet n Wild Megalast Retractable Eyeliner in Blackest Black ($1.99 USD, bought from Target) and Revlon Luxurious Color Smoky Crayon in Black Smoke ($8.99 CAD, bought from Rexall).

As you can see from the picture, the Wet n Wild pencil is much thinner than the very chubby Revlon crayon. I use the Wet n Wild pencil mainly for my waterline and the Revlon crayon for my lash line when I don't have much time to put make up on in the morning. Both are retractable pencils so you don't need to sharpen them.

Here are the swatches

Next up, liquid eyeliners. A liquid eyeliner is great for creating a cat eye look but does need a steady hand for application. This type of eyeliner is the hardest type of eyeliner for me to use as I need to relax first and lean on to something for a "perfect" line. For this kind of eyeliner, I have the E.L.F. Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Black ($1.50 CAD, bought from Dollarama) and the Physician's Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum ($12.99 CAD, bought from Rexall).

Both eyeliners have felt tips but the E.L.F. one has a much stiffer tip than the Physician's Formula one, which makes it easier  to use for a precise application.

Here are the swatches

Lastly, gel eyeliner. A gel eyeliner gives a dramatic super dark line and can also be used as a base for a smoky look. A good thing about gel eyeliner is it doesn't pull or tug the eye area unlike using a pencil eyeliner. A gel eyeliner can be easily used with a stiff angled brush for a precise definition and line. I only have one gel eyeliner and that is Essence Gel Eyeliner in Midnight in Paris ($3.49 CAD, bought from Shopper's)

Here is a swatch

This eyeliner does not come with a brush so you have to buy one separately. I quite like this eyeliner because it's super dark but is also really cheap

Now for the smudge test

I ran a makeup wipe through the swatches a few times

I hope this post was informative.

Have a great week!

Nail of the Week: Essie Bikini so Teeny

Hey guys!

Since it's still pretty hot here in Ontario, I thought to rock out one of the shades I have from the brand's summer collection.

First of all, I'm already sold with the name Bikini so Teeny as it's so cute! hehe. This shade is officially described as "a sparkling, cornflower blue" in Essie's website. I would describe this shade as a gorgeous periwinkle blue that is very fitting for the summer. In the bottle, you can see shimmer but I didn't see it translate on my nails and I think it's cute-r that way. This shade has better formula than the shade I wore last week Ballet Slippers from Essie as well, it took me 3 coats to achieve opacity and applied evenly.

What shade are you rocking out this week?

Bath and Body Works Haul

Sensing a theme here?

I thought to share a quick post of some products I picked up yesterday when I went to the mall. A few weeks ago Bath and Body Works had their Semi - Annual Sale where they had 50% off for their select products. When the sale first started I bought some of the Liquid Hand soaps of different kinds and scents and I loved them so much I came back for more of the brand's products.

I hauled products of my favourite scent from the brand, Sweet Pea. I just love how light, soft and delicate this scent is!

Products I bought are the following;

Sweet Pea 3 wick candle - $10.00 CAD (originally $22.50 CAD)
2 Sweet Pea Mini Shower Gels - part of the 3 for $10.00 CAD promo (originally $5.00 CAD each)
Sweet Pea Fragrance Mist -part of the 3 for $10.00 CAD promo (originally $5.00 CAD)
Forever Sunshine Triple Moisture Body Cream $6.00 CAD (originally $12.00 CAD)

Have you hauled any products from their Semi - Annual Sale?

Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara Review

Hey guys!

Here is a post for my review of the Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara in Blackest Black that I had picked up and have been using for a couple of weeks now. This is the first mascara I have tried from Revlon and I would have to say that I'm quite disappointed with this product.

According to Revlon's website, it's "conditioning formula helps strengthen and plump lashes for up to 200% instantly for maximum volume." The wand that this comes with looks like a typical mascara wand that's stick straight but the tip attracts a lot of excess product which I think is kind of wasteful.

Here are pictures of my curled bare lashes vs my curled lashes with mascara

As you can see, my lashes are long but they tend to form together in small groups so what I'm looking for a mascara is a formula that will separate them to make them look fuller. Sadly, the mascara made my lashes look shorter and it didn't help separate them. Also, Grow Luscious flaked so much! Whenever I would go for a washroom break to check my makeup I would see black specks under my eyes that I had to clean out. Unfortunately, I don't think I would repurchase this mascara.

Beauty Lemming Vol. 1

Hey guys!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend! Here are some products that are on my wish list for future purchases

1) MAC Supercontinental Blush ($24.00 CAD) - This blush is part of MAC's Styleseeker Collection that launched last week. It's a gorgeous bright coral blush with a satin finish. I think peachy coral blushes suit my medium  skin tone well, but sadly, it's already sold out in MAC's website. I hope I can pick this one up at the MAC counter near me.

2) Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Muse ($33.00 CAD) - I saw some youtube review videos of this product and I was instantly hooked! Great colour selection

3) Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation (around $15.00 CAD) - I haven't tried the Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation yet but I read that this has the same coverage but better formula. Once I'm done with my current foundation, I'll pick this one up

4) Urban Decay Naked Palette ($60.00 CAD) - The only thing that's keeping me from buying this product is the price. I have the Naked 2 which I bought when I was visiting relatives in New Jersey so I got it for $10.00 cheaper. I have read that the original Naked Palette has is more versatile.

5) Too Faced Cat Eye Kit ($14.00 CAD) - I'm sucker for sampling kits from high end make up brands! I like how I can get to try their products at a more affordable price and see if I will pull the trigger and buy the regular size. I read that the new eyeliner from Too Faced is really long lasting and super opaque.

What products are you lemming for lately?

Favorite Look of the Week Vol. 1

Since I had a hectic work week I wore the same look everyday.

For this week's look I used the following;
Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo in Bold Gold as base
Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze all over the lid
"Tease" from Urban Decay Naked 2 in the crease
"Foxy" from Urban Decay Naked 2 as highlight
E.L.F. Brightening Eyeliner in Coffee in upper and lower lash line
Rimmel ScandalEyes Mascara in Blackest Black

Hope you liked this look!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Sweetheart Review and Swatches

Hey guys!

How is your week going?

This post is about the newly released Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in the shade Sweetheart.

I know this product has come out for quite a while now in the United States but i just saw it here in Canada this week. And boy was I excited! Since I love the Revlon Lip Butters, I know that I would love this product too.

This balm stain comes in a chubby pencil which twists up that is a mix of lip balm and colour with a glossy finish. Since  it's a balm, it doesn't feel dry and is actually very moisturizing. Also, it should be noted that this balm stain has a minty taste and smell which you will feel once you put it on but will fade away in a few minutes.

For colour payoff, you can make it sheer but can build it up for more pigmentation. Also, because it's a stain it will last you all day. For this particular shade, even after wearing it all day, when i wiped it off with a makeup wipe there was still some colour left.

Sweetheart is a fun and summery medium toned pink that is very wearable even though it's bright.

Overall, this product is pretty amazing and I would suggest for you to pick up at least one shade and try it out for yourself.

Price: $8.46 CAD
Place to buy: I bought mine and only seen them from Walmart for now, although I saw a poster from Shopper's Drug Mart that its coming soon

Mac Lady Danger Lipstick Review and Swatch

Hey guys!

Today I would like to share with you one of the lipstick shades that I enjoy wearing and that is Mac Lady Danger. Officially, it is described as "vivid bright coral-red" which I totally agree with but I would say it's more orange than coral. When Mac says it bright, they really mean it! This particular shade is for bold, daring and confident ladies, I think and not for the faint of heart.

Here is an arm and lip swatch

Lady Danger has a matte finish so wearing a lip balm underneath would be advisable. Also, since it's a bold lip colour it has a tendency to bleed so if you have more time to apply lip liner prior to application that would help. For wear, it's like other lipsticks with a standard of 3 - 4 hours of wear then you see some fading. Also, I would like to note that it stained my lips a little, when I took my makeup off for the day there were still some of the colour on my lips.

Price: $18.00 CAD

Hope you enjoy this post!

CoverGirl Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Shadows in Sugar Coated Review and Swatches

Hey guys!

CoverGirl has added new set of shades in their Eye Enhancers collection with sleeker and thinner packages. In Canada, I have seen the newly packaged quads in Walmart, Shopper's Drug Mart and Zellers. I bought mine from Walmart for about $6.00.

CoverGirl Eye Enhancers in Sugar Coated includes shades in mossy green, eggplant purple, turquoise, and golden peach. The pigmentation for these shades are quite sheer but you can pack them on for them to show up more.

On to the swatches.

Without primer

With primer

Over white cream base

I think the colours showed up the best and are more vibrant over white cream base than using just primer underneath.

I have used each of the shades individually but I have not used them altogether in a look yet. I can't seem to create a look showcasing all shades that would look good together.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks in #08 and #14 by Kate Moss Review and Swatch

Hey guys!

Rimmel has recently launched a lipstick collection wherein they had collaborated with Kate herself for limited release. These lipsticks come in a sleek black tube with their signature crown on top and Kate's name printed across.

I have two out of the five that they have launched and I have to say that I quite like the colour payoff of the ones I have. I have shade numbers 08 and 14 and they are the nude-y, MLBB (my lips but better) shades. I think it's boring that they only gave numbers and no specific names for their shades but I can get pass that.

Shade # 08

This shade is a plum-y colour with somewhat of a pink hint to it. It has a matte creamy finish but its quite drying and not that moisturizing to the lips. You surely need to apply lip balm first before wearing this lipstick.

For the swatch

Shade # 14

This shade is definitely lighter that shade #08 with a brown undertone. This also has a matte creamy finish but its not as drying as shade #08 on my lips.

For the swatch

Rimmel claims that these lipsticks will wear for 8 hours but they only lasted me about 3 - 4 hours and needed to be re-applied again. Also, I have to note that both lipsticks have a strong plastic scent that can be overpowering that will last for about 10 minutes after applying them.

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Nail of the Week: Essie Ballet Slippers

Hey guys!

For today's post I would like to share one of the new shades of nail polish I recently bought. Since my nail polish collection has a lot of bright and dark colours, I thought I would change it up with something pale and nude-y.

Ballet Slippers is officially described as a "classic pale pink with sheer finish." It's a gorgeous light and girly pink but since it has a sheer finish, I needed 3 coats to get full opacity. This is one of the first Essie nail polishes that I have tried and I was quite surprised with how it applied. The application was somewhat streaky and uneven, and it took quite a while for it to completely dry.
