Nail Of The Week: Essie Mink Muffs

under natural lighting

For this week's nails I am wearing one of Essie's classic shades, Mink Muffs. I would describe Mink Muffs as a glossy chocolate brown with a hint of taupe. This shade is a prime example why Essie is my favourite nail polish brand because of its rich, creamy and glossy finish. I am wearing 2 coats of the polish for the pictures in this post.

Nail Of The Week: Blue Swirlies

Hey guys!

For this week's nails I decided to create a summer inspired design as summer is fast approaching. I have said many times before that I love winter and snow but right now I'm looking forward to the coming months because that means a vacation. These past couple of weeks have just been stressful and kind of exhausting so I really can't wait for a vacation. Anyways, I used Essie's Turquoise and Caicos as the base and Nicole by Opi's Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam for the design with the use of Konad's m65 nail plate.

Nail of the Week: Simple Heart Nail Art for Valentine's Day

For this week's nails I decided to create just a simple heart design to celebrate Valentine's Day using my Konad Nail Stamp kit. I used Sally Hansen in Cherry Charisma as a base for the design and used Sally Hansen white polish for the stamped design.

Nail of the Week: Soft Pink Hearts

under artificial light with flash

Here is a simple nail art idea for the upcoming Valentine's Day that I thought to share with you guys. I used Essie's Ballet Slippers for the base, added a layer of Wet n Wild's Hallucinate and topped 2 hearts per nail using Kleancolor's Twinkly Love.

Nail of the Week: Argyle Nail Stamp Art

Hey guys!

How is your week going?
It's been a gloomy couple of days here in my neck of the woods with snow and freezing rain which is kind of depressing. Anyways, for this week I decided to use my Konad Stamping Kit and chose this argyle print design. I used Klean Color in Concrete Grey as the base and the Konad white polish for the design.

Nail of the Week: China Glaze Get Carried Away

under artificial light without flash

Hey guys!

For this week's nails I am wearing a polish from China Glaze's Cirque Du Soleil Collection, Get Carried Away over a Sally Hansen's Black Out polish. Get Carried Away is a sheer black with small black and silver glitter, black and orange hex glitter, and black bar glitter. I put a layer of Sally Hansen polish in Black Out to achieve opacity of the base and see the glitters more clearly.

Nail of the Week: Sally Hansen Brisk Blue

under artificial light with flash

Hey guys!

For this week's nails I am wearing Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri Polish in Brisk Blue with a simple nail art by stamping. This polish shade caught my eye when I was at the drugstore with how vibrant and bright this sky blue colour is in the bottle. This is one of my first polishes from the Insta-Dri line and would most likely not be my last as I'm really liking this formula. I only painted one coat for these swatches with the use of their wide brush and it dried quickly.

Nail of the Week: OPI Warm and Fozzie

under natural light

Happy New Year!

For this week's nails I am wearing one of the nail polishes from a past OPI Muppets Collection, Warm and Fozzie. I chose to wear this polish as the outfit I wore for our family's New Year's Eve celebration is a bit dress-y and I thought this shade was a perfect fit. This shade is a warm metallic copper mixed with pink, green and gold glitter particles. I think this is such an interesting shade because of the small glitter particles in it especially when it catches the light and certain angles. The formula for this polish is liquidy and thin so I painted 3 coats to get the opacity I wanted.

Nail Of The Week: Festive Snowman

Hey guys!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones and enjoyed delicious food! I spent the day with my family and some friends having amazing food prepared by my mom and just had a wonderful time. For this week's nails I created a colourful frosty snowman in my hopes of having a white christmas. This is my second christmas here in Canada where it didn't snow which is kind of a bummer so I wanted to paint my nails something fun and snowy.

Nail Of The Week: Festive Gingerbread Man

Hey guys!

For this week's nails, I decided to create a gingerbread man nail art to express my love for gingerbread! One of the things I enjoy during the holidays is anything gingerbread flavoured from donuts to hot drinks. I used Essie Mink Muffs for the base of the design and for the gingerbread man himself, then used Sally Hansen Cherry Charisma for the buttons and Sally Hansen White for the gingerbread man's clothing pattern. I really like the design I did but I made a little mistake of giving him a frown instead of a smile! I only noticed it now while writing this post. Oh well, I guess he's not as excited as I am with christmas. Lol

Nail of the Week: Snowflakes!

For this week's nails I wanted to celebrate winter by doing a snowflake design as I am one of those people who truly enjoy the cold weather and snow. We have been having dreary and gloomy weather here in Ontario so I have been wishing for snow but sadly having no such luck. So to help uplift my spirits a little I decided to create a snowflake nail art using Wet n Wild's 'I Need a Refreshmint' as a base then put a layer of Wet n Wild's 'Hallucinate' and Sally Hansen 'White' for the snowflakes.

How is the weather in your neck of the woods?

Nail of the Week: Christmas Tree Nail Nart

Hey guys!
How's your week going so far?

I can't believe it's December already! I'm getting excited for the Christmas Season because it means snow, holiday shopping, Christmas parties, and just some good 'ol quality time with the loved ones! For this week's nails I did an easy christmas tree nail art design to kick off the Holiday Season. The shades I used for this nail art were; OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons as a base, Essie Mojito Madness for the tree, China Glaze I'm Not Lion for the glitters, Essie Bikini so Teeny, Kleancolor Neon Yellow, Sally Hansen Cherry Charisma for the dot ornaments and Kleancolor Aurora for the star.

Nail of the Week: Essie Penny Talk

under artificial light with flash

For this week's nails I am wearing Essie Penny Talk. This shade is included in Essie's Mirror Metallics that came out a few months back but is still available at some Walmart and Shoppers Drug Mart. Penny Talk is a gorgeous bronze-y, rose-gold metallic shade. The application can be quite difficult as the formula is somewhat inconsistent and streaky. Also, the brush strokes are visible on the nails which is common with metallic polishes but a gorgeous shade nonetheless.

Nail of the Week: OPI Goldeneye

under natural lighting

For this week's nails I am wearing one of the shades included in OPI's Skyfall Collection, Goldeneye. OPI has released the collection to celebrate 50 years since the first James Bond movie came out and the release of their latest instalment, Skyfall. It took me quite a while to get a hold of this polish as I only had one store nearby that sells OPI polishes and they were always out of this shade so when it was finally available, I snatched it right up! Goldeneye is a clear base that is densely packed with small yellow-orange glitters. What struck me with this shade is its more orange toned than the typical gold (which I can't pull off btw) glitter polishes I've seen in the market. The application was also great as I didn't have any troubles, the glitters spread evenly and I achieved opacity with 2 coats.

Nail Of The Week: Dotted Essie Recessionista

under natural light

For this week's nails I did a simple nail art using Essie's Recessionista as the base, Klean Color's Pastel Purple for the first line of dots and Essie's Pilates Hottie for the second line. Essie Recessionista is a creamy dark magenta/deep plum shade with 2 coats. Klean Color Pastel Purple is more of a bubblegum pink than pastel in my opinion but a pretty shade nonetheless. And Essie Pilates Hottie is a beautiful muted lilac shade that I think is appropriate for fall.

Nail of the Week: Nicole by OPI's Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam

2 coats under natural light

Hey guys!

For this week's nails I am wearing Nicole by OPI's Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam from the Kardashian Collection with an accent nail wearing OPI's Designer... de Better! from the Muppets Collection. Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam is a gorgeous darkened teal which leans slightly more towards green than blue, under certain lights, this shade can look almost black though. The formula for this polish is great to work with and easy to apply, it can even be a one-coater. For the accent nail, OPI Designer... de Better! is a silvery champagne foil with orange flecks.

Nail of the Week: Nail Art for My Mexican Vacation

I wanted to do something festive for my trip down south so I did a little nail art on my tips! I couldn't decide which colour to put on my nails so I used both colours that I liked the most from my recent Essie nail polish haul. For the upper half I wore Essie Turquoise and Caicos and for the lower half I used Essie Pilates Hottie. And for the pattern, I used my m65 Konad Nail Art Plate with the white polish from the Konad Kit.

Nail of the Week: Gosh Ocean

For this week's nail I am wearing my very first Gosh polish in the shade Ocean. I was browsing one day at Shoppers Drug Mart and this shade immediately caught my eye. Looking at the bottle, the shade really does remind me of the water. Ocean is a turquoise, blue-green with a metallic finish. I wish the shade leans more towards blue rather than green but it's vice versa. Formula wise, I needed to be careful in painting my nails as the brush strokes tend to be noticeable (which I think is common with metallic finish polishes) The picture above is applied with two coats.

Nail of the Week: Pink Nails for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hey guys!
How was your thanksgiving?

As you may know, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month so I thought to do a simple pink french tip in commemoration of the campaign. I am fortunate enough not to have anyone in my immediate family battle the disease but I think its still important to know about the campaign to help spread awareness. To learn more about Canada's breast cancer campaign called the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's 'Run for the Cure', click here

For this week's nails I used Essie's Off the Shoulder from the Summer 2012 Collection and Sally Hansen White polish for the tips.

Here is a swatch of the base polish alone with 2 coats under natural lighting

When I was painting my nails, my little cousins arrived early for thanksgiving dinner and wanted to play dress up so here is what they did on my nails. Totally blinged out nails.

Nail Of The Week: Nail Stamp Fail?

I wanted to have a fall themed nails for this week but I can't decide if I like the outcome of my nail stamping or not. Since I'm a novice when it comes to nail art I opted to use my nail stamping kit for the pattern I used. I used fall colours like dark brown, neon yellow and an orange for this look but the yellow and orange were not striking enough to pop out of the dark brown. I first stamped with the yellow then added the orange afterwards.

I took some photos while I was doing my nails because I wanted to share how gorgeous the dark brown is by itself. This shade is called Hard-Kourt Fashionista from Nicole by OPI's Kardashian Collection which looks black from afar but is really a dark brown.
