Recent Empties Vol. 2

Hey guys!

I can't believe it's already the end of November and just one more month, the end of the year. Time sure flies! Anyways, for the past month I've tried not to splurge and be more conscious of my purchases so that lead me to use up these products and it kind of made me feel accomplished. For the past year, I have been so caught up with growing my makeup collection that I've definitely accumulated more than what I need so finishing a product gives me a sense of achievement. So let's take a look!

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Review and Swatches Part 2 - Reds

Hey guys!

Here is part 2 of my review and swatches for the Revlon Lip Butters and I have the 'reds' for you today.  A lip butter is a hybrid of lip balm and pigmented lip colour and Revlon makes a wonderful collection of them. For this post, I have the shades Candy Apple and Cherry Tart. To read part one, click here.

Candy Apple - is a bright coral red shade that can be sheered out for a wearable red but quite intense when layered on the lips. This is one of the shades in the collection that has no glitter or shimmer and only glossy finish.

Here is an arm and lip swatch

Cherry Tart - is a warm cherry red with micro glitter that brightens the face. I'm not really a fan of glitter on my lips so I have only worn this a couple of times but this is still a pretty colour nonetheless.

Overall: The Revlon Lip Butters are excellent combination of lip balms and lipsticks which are not drying but not that moisturizing either. They are lightweight, creamy, have excellent pigmentation and have great variety of shades. On me, they were for about 2.5 - 3 hours before needing re-application.

Have you tried the Revlon Lip Butters? What's your favourite shade?

Favourite Look of the Week Vol. 5: Golden Winged Eye

I feel very experimental with my eyeshadow looks lately and have been enjoying them so far. Here's a look I created using warm gold and brown shades. I also did a cat eye for a bolder statement. I apologize for the fallout on my lashes, the mascara I used is on its last run so it didn't coat so well and made my lashes look crusty :(

For this week's look I used the following products:
Urban Decay Primer Potion "Original" to prime my eyelid (not pictured)
Maybelline Color Tattoo in "Bold Gold" as a base
Urban Decay eyeshadow in "Half Baked" for inner third of my lid
Urban Decay eyeshow in "Tease" for the crease
Urban Decay eyeshadow in "Snakebite" for outer third of my lid
Essence Gel Liner in "Midnight in Paris" for upper and lower lash line
Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in 'Raspberry Bite' Review and Swatches

I am a person who doesn't shy away from bold lips, I'm definitely someone who is more comfortable in wearing bright, intense, statement lip colours. And in lieu with that fact, I would like to share with you a lipstick great for the season. The Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Raspberry Bite is a gorgeously rich, red raspberry that epitomizes fall, in my opinion.

The Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks line is my favourite kind of drugstore lipstick because it has a wide variety of shades, great pigmentation, the formula is creamy, moisturizing and comfortable to wear. Raspberry Bite might look scary in the tube but its several shades lighter on the lips and the shade is also not that vampy so it can definitely be worn during the day.

Here is an arm and lip swatch

Overall: Raspberry Bite is a great shade, perfect for the season so I highly recommend it. This shade wears about 5 hours on my lips but it does leave a stain when removed.

Price: $6.99 - $8.99
Place to buy: Most drugstores

Products I've Been Loving Lately Vol. 1

Hey guys!

I'm really liking the change of seasons from summer to fall, as much as I like the warm weather, I much prefer cooler weather and fall fashion with boots and scarves. Anyways, today I would like to share with you some products that I have been enjoying recently.

Revlon Quick Dry Base Coat - Since I've been painting my nails a lot lately, I've realized that I need to make more effort in caring for them. I'm really liking this base coat in protecting my nails from yellowing and creating a smooth surface for the polish that I'm going to apply.

Revlon Extra Life No Chip Top Coat - I pair this with the Revlon Base Coat and this helps in making my nail polish at least 5 days without chipping.

OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons - I have been looking for a perfect nude shade for ages and I feel like I found it in this polish! I like that this has no hints of pink and looks classy and sophisticated. This shade is part of OPI's Germany Collection. For a review and swatch click here.

Benefit The POREfessional - I got this deluxe size from a Benefit set I purchased last month. Since I have oily skin, this helps in making my foundation last my long work hours. I was a little skeptical to use this product on my acne prone skin because it is silicon based but it did not clog my pores at all. Even though I don't see it minimizing the appearance of my pores, it helps my makeup stay longer and made my face smoother. For a review of this product click here.

Benefit Coralista Blush - I have been wanting to buy this blush for a long time but I just can't seem to fork over the $36.00 price tag. So when Benefit released this in a set, I purchased it right away. This is a gorgeous peachy coral blush that looks natural on the skin. For a swatch click here.

Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie - I've kind of neglected my lip butters and have used my brighter lipsticks during the summer but re-discovered my lip butters last month. I have worn the shade Raspberry a lot lately as a transitioning shade from summer to fall. For a review and swatch click here.

Urban Decay Naked Palette - I'm in a "honeymoon period" with this palette, so to speak. I just can't get enough at how gorgeous this palette is. Sometimes I take this palette out just to look at the shadows, which makes me feel like such a nerd! This palette contains 12 neutral shadows where you can create countless looks. For a review and swatches click here.

Cool Way "Salyards 55" Flats - This has been a summer wardrobe staple that I've kind of transitioned into early fall. I like that I can pair this shoes with almost anything in my closet whether it be a dress, jeggings and even dress pants. In Canada, I found the Cool Way brand from Little Burgundy.

What have you been loving lately? Do share!

Favourite Look of the Week Vol. 4: Fall Burgundy Eyes

Here is a look that I did to welcome the fall season! As much as I love neutral shadows, once in a while I like to switch things up with a colour out of my comfort zone.

Products I used for this look:
Maybelline Color Tatoo in Pomegrante Punk as a base
"Eyelid" Shade from Wet n Wild Trio in Knock on Wood - all over the lid
"Blackout" from Urban Decay Naked 2 - outer third of the lid
Essence Gel Liner in Midnight in Paris - upper lash line
Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Review and Swatches Part 1

Since their release about a year ago, the beauty community has been crazy about the Revlon Lip Butters. These lip colours are a great combination of lip balm and lipstick with a wide selection of shades.

Company Description: Buttery Balm + Shiny Colour. Buttery Balm with beautiful shiny colour to give you baby soft, healthy glowing lips. 94% of women felt lips were softer, smoother, and instantly hydrated.

For part 1 of the swatches, I have the shades Raspberry Pie and Berry Smoothie.

Raspberry Pie is a dark raspberry pink that almost looks like a deep red shade with a really glossy finish. This shade is incredibly pigmented and rich in colour that would be a great shade for the fall, I think. But because of its buttery texture, the colour lasts for about 2.5 hours before re-application.

Here are some swatches

Berry Smoothie is a muted berry pink shade which is a good colour for everyday wear. Out of all the lip butters I have, this is the shade that I wear the most. I think this shade is very versatile and will suit all skin tones.

Here are some swatches

Overall: This is a great product and I would recommend this to those who like the feel of lip balms with the pigmentation of lipsticks.

Revlon Super Lustrous in Berry Haute Review and Swatches

Hey guys!

Since fall is right around the corner I want to share with you one of my favourite lip shades for fall and that is Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick in Berry Haute.

I enjoy wearing Berry Haute because it's a creme finish which means its moisturizing, smooth to apply and very pigmented! This is kind of a cool-toned pinkish purple, it's not the most wearable everyday shade of purple but its quite unique in my opinion. Sometimes I like to sheer this out but the swatch below is at its full opacity.

Here is an arm and lip swatch

This lipstick lasted about 5 hours on my lips before I had to reapply. I'd recommend this lipstick to someone who likes purple lipsticks!

Guide To.... Types of Eyeliners - Drugstore

Hey guys!

Since there are many kinds of eyeliners available in the market, I thought to make a post of what I have so you may be able to choose which is more suited for you.

I have here pencil eyeliners, liquid eyeliners and a gel eyeliner which are available from the drugstore.

First up, pencil eyeliners. A pencil eyeliner is a staple in every girl's makeup collection, I think.  A pencil eyeliner is a good starter for a makeup beginner as its easy to apply with little to no room for mess ups. For application, you basically just trace your waterline or your upper lash line for a gorgeous look. For this kind of eyeliner, I have the Wet n Wild Megalast Retractable Eyeliner in Blackest Black ($1.99 USD, bought from Target) and Revlon Luxurious Color Smoky Crayon in Black Smoke ($8.99 CAD, bought from Rexall).

As you can see from the picture, the Wet n Wild pencil is much thinner than the very chubby Revlon crayon. I use the Wet n Wild pencil mainly for my waterline and the Revlon crayon for my lash line when I don't have much time to put make up on in the morning. Both are retractable pencils so you don't need to sharpen them.

Here are the swatches

Next up, liquid eyeliners. A liquid eyeliner is great for creating a cat eye look but does need a steady hand for application. This type of eyeliner is the hardest type of eyeliner for me to use as I need to relax first and lean on to something for a "perfect" line. For this kind of eyeliner, I have the E.L.F. Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in Black ($1.50 CAD, bought from Dollarama) and the Physician's Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum ($12.99 CAD, bought from Rexall).

Both eyeliners have felt tips but the E.L.F. one has a much stiffer tip than the Physician's Formula one, which makes it easier  to use for a precise application.

Here are the swatches

Lastly, gel eyeliner. A gel eyeliner gives a dramatic super dark line and can also be used as a base for a smoky look. A good thing about gel eyeliner is it doesn't pull or tug the eye area unlike using a pencil eyeliner. A gel eyeliner can be easily used with a stiff angled brush for a precise definition and line. I only have one gel eyeliner and that is Essence Gel Eyeliner in Midnight in Paris ($3.49 CAD, bought from Shopper's)

Here is a swatch

This eyeliner does not come with a brush so you have to buy one separately. I quite like this eyeliner because it's super dark but is also really cheap

Now for the smudge test

I ran a makeup wipe through the swatches a few times

I hope this post was informative.

Have a great week!

Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara Review

Hey guys!

Here is a post for my review of the Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara in Blackest Black that I had picked up and have been using for a couple of weeks now. This is the first mascara I have tried from Revlon and I would have to say that I'm quite disappointed with this product.

According to Revlon's website, it's "conditioning formula helps strengthen and plump lashes for up to 200% instantly for maximum volume." The wand that this comes with looks like a typical mascara wand that's stick straight but the tip attracts a lot of excess product which I think is kind of wasteful.

Here are pictures of my curled bare lashes vs my curled lashes with mascara

As you can see, my lashes are long but they tend to form together in small groups so what I'm looking for a mascara is a formula that will separate them to make them look fuller. Sadly, the mascara made my lashes look shorter and it didn't help separate them. Also, Grow Luscious flaked so much! Whenever I would go for a washroom break to check my makeup I would see black specks under my eyes that I had to clean out. Unfortunately, I don't think I would repurchase this mascara.

Beauty Lemming Vol. 1

Hey guys!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend! Here are some products that are on my wish list for future purchases

1) MAC Supercontinental Blush ($24.00 CAD) - This blush is part of MAC's Styleseeker Collection that launched last week. It's a gorgeous bright coral blush with a satin finish. I think peachy coral blushes suit my medium  skin tone well, but sadly, it's already sold out in MAC's website. I hope I can pick this one up at the MAC counter near me.

2) Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Muse ($33.00 CAD) - I saw some youtube review videos of this product and I was instantly hooked! Great colour selection

3) Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation (around $15.00 CAD) - I haven't tried the Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation yet but I read that this has the same coverage but better formula. Once I'm done with my current foundation, I'll pick this one up

4) Urban Decay Naked Palette ($60.00 CAD) - The only thing that's keeping me from buying this product is the price. I have the Naked 2 which I bought when I was visiting relatives in New Jersey so I got it for $10.00 cheaper. I have read that the original Naked Palette has is more versatile.

5) Too Faced Cat Eye Kit ($14.00 CAD) - I'm sucker for sampling kits from high end make up brands! I like how I can get to try their products at a more affordable price and see if I will pull the trigger and buy the regular size. I read that the new eyeliner from Too Faced is really long lasting and super opaque.

What products are you lemming for lately?

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Sweetheart Review and Swatches

Hey guys!

How is your week going?

This post is about the newly released Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in the shade Sweetheart.

I know this product has come out for quite a while now in the United States but i just saw it here in Canada this week. And boy was I excited! Since I love the Revlon Lip Butters, I know that I would love this product too.

This balm stain comes in a chubby pencil which twists up that is a mix of lip balm and colour with a glossy finish. Since  it's a balm, it doesn't feel dry and is actually very moisturizing. Also, it should be noted that this balm stain has a minty taste and smell which you will feel once you put it on but will fade away in a few minutes.

For colour payoff, you can make it sheer but can build it up for more pigmentation. Also, because it's a stain it will last you all day. For this particular shade, even after wearing it all day, when i wiped it off with a makeup wipe there was still some colour left.

Sweetheart is a fun and summery medium toned pink that is very wearable even though it's bright.

Overall, this product is pretty amazing and I would suggest for you to pick up at least one shade and try it out for yourself.

Price: $8.46 CAD
Place to buy: I bought mine and only seen them from Walmart for now, although I saw a poster from Shopper's Drug Mart that its coming soon
